Great receiver with an annoying shortcoming : Pioneer VSX-820-K 5.1 Home Theater Receiver
My search for a new receiver began with attempting to replace an 11 year old Sony, Brand Loyalty was important, I know how it works so why fool with a good thing.
I pick the Pioneer after reviewing many similarly priced and featured models, what I have learned about the electronics world is similar to computers, new today old tomorrow.
I wanted a organize trusted a stock that was not intimidating and reliability.
Pioneer 820-K came out on top, after seeing hard at (Onkyo, Sony, Dennon). The features where there I wanted it ready for #D (still not ready in my mind) I wanted Hdmi, 5.1 channel,
I have combined this receiver with a Samsung b 740 series (240 hz) Tv, a Samsung 6500 Series Blue Ray, Sony Vcr (its part of the former 11 year old system), Bose acoustimass 15 speakers (part of the 11 year old system) and a direct Tv satellite system.
I am very happy with all of the above, I tend to go for the quality in a stock today.
Hookup took about 3 hours, The absolute worst part was the onscreen set up, it will only work with cabling not Hdmi. So a tiny pain, but how many times do you set stuff up. I used the Pioneer sound set up system to set my Bose speakers, it did a great job, no complaints and it was easy. I used fiber optic on both the satellite and the Blue Ray.
Overall: I am happy with the Pioneer 820, as usual it will probably take me awhile to honestly test the system as the boss doe not like to "play with the system".
Would I suggest this receiver yes, simple and a good product.
