Good value digital media receiver / tuner : Clarion Mobile Electronics FZ501 - Bluetooth USB Receiver

Premise is good , who needs a Cd player with Ipods and Sirius? But this unit is a little simplistic and not as polished as as users of these devices would expect. Conjecture I bought it: direct control of the ipod through a Usb port and no need to buy a sep. control unit for Sirius reciever(like Sony and Pioneer require.) It absolutely does both of these tasks but not without some shortcomings. It is very hard to use with its one control button. I often find myself using the remote control instead. The remote isn't very strong though, so, depending on the mounting location in your car, you will have to move it around. And on top of that, there are some setup functions that are only undoubtedly accomplished by using both the remote and the control knob on the reciever. Unfortunately, the remote recieving eye is on the right side of the knob, so your hand blocks the eye. I can't help but wonder if this was an oversight by the Japanese designers, you know they have right hand drive cars.
It is not all bad though, if you have an older car like I do, being able to can the Fm modulators from the Sirius and Ipod make an mountainous revision in sound. All things functions reasonably well, it is just very easy and yet not very easy to use.
